Snapping Is Officially the Future


Does it feel like Facebook is perhaps ripping pages right out of Snap-chats playbook lately?
Wow the competition for ad revenue must be incredibly fierce.

Personally I learned my lesson...SELL OUT TO FACEBOOK. Instagram understood this.
I mean seriously Facebook is rolling out their own camera filters and a sharing feature
called Stories that is basically what Snap-chat offers except a few MAJOR differences.

Its the age old story of the big, strong bully Goliath realizing there is a MAJOR play to be
made and they are counting the ad revenue already.

SO think of it like this Facebook already has what OH OVER 1.86 billion monthly active Facebook users worldwide which is a 17 percent increase year over year.

There are 1.15 billion mobile daily active users an increase of  23 percent year-over-year.

BOTTOM-LINE  A huge and vastly growing number of Facebook users are active
and consistent in their visits to the site, making them a promising audience for marketing efforts.

What does Snap Chat have that could hurt Facebook?
It is simple features that keep people ON SNAP CHAT and OFF FACEBOOK!

Features that could also help Facebook get people to spend more time on the site which more attractive to marketers then ever before!

Age 25 to 34, makes up 30% of users, the prime target demographic for many businesses
marketing efforts, Five new profiles are created every second. The audience on Facebook
is growing exponentially

Average time spent per Facebook visit is 20 minutes.
Every 60 seconds on Facebook: 510,000 comments are posted, 293,000
statuses are updated, and 136,000 photos are uploaded.

There are a lot of engaged and active users, but also a huge amount of information competing for their attention, so quality and strategy are paramount.

50% of 18-24 year-olds go on Facebook when they wake up.
What this means for you: Facebook is important to these users, and potentially,
if done correctly, so is the content you post on it.

One in five page views in the United States occurs on Facebook.
If you use social media marketing efforts on Facebook well,
you could have huge returns to show for it.

42% of marketers report that Facebook is critical or important to their business.
This is a crowded marketplace, but you can’t afford to sit it out, because odds
are fairly high that your competition is there.

The key is to use Facebook marketing correctly and make sure that your efforts
stand out from the crowd.

16 Million local business pages have been created as of May 2013, which is a 100 percent increase from 8 million in June 2012.

Facebook marketing has transformed how business is done, and it is used by local businesses to expand and grow.

Something to think about  At 1.86 billion Facebook has more monthly active users
than Whats App (500 million), who Facebook paid $4 billion in cash, $12 billion in
Facebook shares, and an additional $3 billion in restricted stock units,
Snap Chat 300 million, Twitter (317 million) and  LinkedIn 110 million users along with Instagram
(Also owned by Facebook) now has over 600 million users according to.

Facebook reigns supreme.

So take Facebook's 1.86 billion users, What's App 500 million (also owned by The Zuck) then Facebook messenger's 1 billion users and do not forget they own Instagram so kick in 600 million more.

That is over 4 billion monthly users folks and all with PROVEN
track records of generating ad revenue.

Personally I look at a guy like Zuckerberg and go hmmm he is still as smart as he was 10
years ago except now he has UNLIMITED FUNDS and access to the worlds smartest techies..
Meanwhile A year and half ago, Facebook reportedly offered to buy Snap-chat,  for $3 billion.
Snap-chat's then-23-year-old CEO, Evan Spiegel, turned it down. Sources told the Wall Street Journal at the time that Spiegel was holding out for much more.

Personally I say not a smart move. Not at all. Number 1 these guys take things personally.
Number 2 Zuckerberg has access to over 4 billion monthly users many that overlap
with Snap Chat already many of which will be happy to just stick on Facebook
and stop switching in and out of apps. So Zuckerberg will just invest 3 billion,
 5 billion ,10 billion whatever he has to and destroy Snap-chat who even now

Oh by the way Snap’s stock closed down 6.8 percent at $22.21 per share on Tuesday.
This move by Zuckerberg makes it harder for Snap-chat to become more mainstream
and that’s definitely a concern for them.

What is sweet is that all Facebook users can take part in Snap-chat-like actions without
having to download and learn a new app. Heck just today I battled out a mean game
of Pacman with some messenger buddies.

I love the angle Facebook is playing here. Instant Games works great in chats with just
2 people if need be, but you get a surge of adrenaline in group chats - between
roommates or co-workers. Each group gets its own leader board, and what I love is the
winners get to punk out the losers with reaction GIFs as you trounce their records.
Then for guys like me you can screen shot your victory screens, and share them to a
chat-room for bragging purposes.

If you think about it Zuckerberg did it again. He is using the social side of gaming
which will play a large role of how Facebook is engaging players with messenger.
Then it will simply evolve from there.

To be fair to Snap-chat their users are younger than those on Facebook meaning they
 will most likely stay put...for now.

The play here is for Facebook core users to start testing out Stories as a way to
communicate with their friends or followers most of whom are in their 30s and 40s.

GO GO Power Rangers!

The test will see is Facebook Stories is picked up by that group as Snap-chat users
are are so addicted to their stories..
Will they update their stories once a day 3 times? Dozens?

We will see. If 1st hand experience and  battling it out in the trenches all day counts
for anything I already see it happening.

My notifications are BLOWING up I have hundreds maybe thousands of stories to
view if I so choose on my Facebook daily at this point.

Facebook has seen success by rolling out Snap-chat-like features on Instagram,
Whats App and its Messenger app.

There is NO DOUBT these features will help Facebook get more people to spend
more time on messenger.

I know I spent an hour on it just today and s did dozens if my friends.
This will make  FB even more attractive to marketers,

Now as if a shark smelling blood in the water Facebook is bringing Stories to its main
app and displaying the feature at the top of its News Feed.

Today I was able to add masks, frames and filters to my photos and videos I could
even transform into Wonder Woman, a Power Ranger and other characters.
Oh and guess what urge I had to do then? SHARE IT

Snap,  started in 2011 has 161 million daily active users.

Started in 2004, Facebook now has 1.23 billion daily active users.

(Let's not forget 600 million from Instagram, 500 million from Whats App
and 1 billion from messenger HAHA!

Bottom line Zuckerberg will take the snap-chat model and perfect it it to his audience
that is 15 Times larger and is already accustomed to seeing ads.

Is it copying someone? WHO CARES the guy had his 3 billion buyout offer

I see this as an ALL OUT ASSAULT Karate kid style NO MERCY on Snap-chat.
Just to remind you again Facebook launched their version of snap chat lenses called
Camera Effects where users can apply filters and graphics to their selfies.

I seem to be having a good time so far!

You think Facebook has built a million relationships up over the past 10 years?
Well they are now working with those brands to create custom “masks” that
overlay photos. Why is this a big deal?
Film studios have been Snap-chat's biggest advertisers, and Facebook’s
1st wave of masks attack include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ,
the Universal Pictures film Despicable Me 3, Lionsgate’s Power Rangers,
Sony Pictures’ Smurfs: The Lost Village Twentieth Century Fox film Alien:
Covenant and Wonder Woman from Warner Bros. Pictures have created masks.


This is an all out shock and awe effort to not just slow down snap-chat but DESTROY
them and take away any possible marketers thinking but signing long term deals
Its relative success or failure will go a long  way in determining who owns
the near future of social networking.

Even Whats App rolled out a version in February.

 The way we all create content has been changing from text to photos and
videos. NO Doubt what Snap Chat did changed the way we are all interacting online

To create a story, you can either swipe right on the News Feed or tap the camera
in the top-left corner of the mobile app.

Once you like it you can share it with all your friends or send it to a certain
selection or even just 1.

If posted to everyone your post shows up top in a horizontally scrolling feed
of stories that now sits atop the Facebook app.
(The feed is ranked by how close Facebook thinks you are to the person who shared it.)

If just sent to say a group of 6 friends the message will appear in “Direct,” a new
part of the Facebook app that is roughly equivalent to Instagram’s direct messages.

Once you post a video publicly, you'll be able to see who has viewed the content
just like you can on other apps.

If you want to block someone from viewing your Story, you have the options
of only sending it to a select group of people, or blocking that user from your Facebook.

Whether or not you accept the idea that image-based messaging will eventually
dominate the way we share online, Facebook’s introduction of stories represents
an important validation of that concept.
It was like the US Government accepting a debt in bitcoin.

Now text-based communication may be going the way of the printing press
which is huge for publishers, advertisers, and people who have something to
say that doesn’t involve a selfie.

It's just a more personal version of the News Feed.
Ads are coming, though you can take that to the bank.

Yes I used a thesaurus for that one because I want to go on the record saying
one way or another Snap-chats MASSIVE growth story, hypothetical ad dollars is DONE.

Facebook’s entry or ummm GET OUT OF MY WAY GUYS WE ARE COMING IN

a school yard bully takes lunch money.

I know Facebook’s take on stories will have the same effect on Snap Chat.
It Is That Simple.

Think of Stories as a second News Feed which is by far Facebook’s most lucrative product.
If you are social media savvy or in the industry like me it is now a concern where to post.

Without a shadow of a doubt Facebooks method of Stories will indeed succeed
and take the lions share of the market. They are simply to big, too smart and too ruthless.
Oh and someone at Snap Chat turned down 3 billion...

By Facebook Moving To The Camera They Essentially Acknowledged
Snapping Is Officially the Future

Facebook's business model relies upon advertising revenue, I guarantee you see
sponsored Stories around the corner.

When that happens that 3 billion offer may be looking pretty good as marketers
struggling to measure success and prove ROI on Snap-chat will be happy to use
their favorite Snap-chat feature paired with Facebook's suite of analytics tools.

The one real question I have is whether Snap-chat's younger audience will
ever make the switch back to Facebook.

Plus who knows maybe Snap-chat will roll out another grand-slam.
Whatever the case Facebook won't just be watching they will be on the offensive.
